With just months to go, the IAAF World Youth Championships are making their way with a wholesome pack for entertainment and spectators are looking forward to witness a worthy competition
.Every two years under the IAAF rulings the world youth championships are held and with that the Australian selectors have carried on the recruitment process for the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France from July 6-10 2011. The Australian selectors
have chosen a team of 27 athletes comprising of 10 boys and 17 programmed to deliver a multitude of auspicious instances.
The string of the performers in the Australian squad holds an impressive line up of the athletes for the event and on specific measures the athletes have somewhere marked their distinction
in different disciplines of athletics. Staggeringly the line up includes Athletics Australia Under-17 development squad’s 23 graduates 15 national Under-18 champions. Several stars and record holders also fall in the under-18 category with Brodie Cross for
the pole vault, Danielle McConnell and Elizabeth Parnov for hammer throw, former Australian representative Monica Brennan in 200m, Jenny Blundell in 800m, and Elliott Lang for the javelin.
After the provenance of the championships in the year 1999 the platform has provided the world with some of the best athletes in their disciplines of the game and some of the these mercenaries
include Joel Milburn (Canada, 2003) and Dani Samuels (Morocco, 2005), Sally Pearson (Canada, 2003), Jana Rawlinson (Poland, 1999), Jared Tallent (Hungary, 2001). The named athletes made their marks at the early editions of the meet before going for the Olympic
and World Championships representation.
The Australian representation at the championships include gold medallists who once have stood par excellence at the championships meets and some of them are Samuels discus throw – 2005,
Kimberley Mickle javelin throw – 2001, Pearson 100m Hurdles – 2001, Rawlinson 400m Hurdles – 1999 and Georgie Clarke 800m – 1999, 1500m – 2001.
The vibe for the coming event’s line up depicts the expectancies of Athletics Australia Junior High Performance’s manager Sara Mulkearns further she said “We’re really thrilled to see
so many of our best under-18 athletes on the team, not to mention so many that have been involved in our programme and on the whole the team is strong” moreover she said “To those selected I encourage you to relish the opportunity, it is for the most part
your first chance to compete on the world stage and from a development perspective that is invaluable.”
The Australians are quite hopeful for the event to prove as a significant step for the young athletes to spark the odds and a plunge for a worthy step into the international levels of
the games and competitions.
