Max Knox and Jock Green start to race for Decca Ghost Bike Racing Team – Cycling Update
During the weekend the Decca Ghost mountain bike racing team was commenced in Johannesburg and two South African Max Knox and Jock Green confirmed that they will race for Ghost team.
Knox is one of the most world’s leading marathon cyclists and he achieved four stages of Cape Pioneer Trek in October with his teammate and Switzerland’s world champion Christoph Sauser ahead of Neil Macdonald and Waylon Woolcock (R E : C M). He also took
a lead in BC Bike Race in Canada and also took other South African events.
He is really looking forward for the next season South African National Marathon Series. The first round will start in Sabie in February and this is most favourite races of him because he lives in Sabie.
For the past few years, a German Brand, Ghost Bikes has attained international triumph in Olympic cross country but now they wanted to make progress in marathon racing events and supports Decca Ghost team.
Although, the 24-year-old, Knox gained a success in 80 percent of the events mostly on a 26-inch Ghost but now he will compete on new 29-inch models.
Team manager Theunissen told the media, “Max is one of the few riders able to remain competitive on all courses on a 26-inch bike so we’re excited about the arrival of the new 29er, which should remove any disadvantage on the less hilly, less technical race
route.”
The former South African National champion Green made the change to mountain racing two years ago and still he is improving. He is focus on 2012 Otter Africa Trail Run.
Decca’s Quinton van Loggerenburg, “We have achieved great success in professional road racing both in South Africa and abroad over the past two years and have now targeted the growing discipline of mountain biking.”
Team Decca Ghost is registered with South African team but they follow an international strategy in 2012 because team wanted to improve the awareness of Internationals brands. The team will also be sponsored by, Belgium-based Decca performance cycle clothing,
SRAM components, Continental tyres. It will be interesting to see, how Green and Knox will help his team.
