The Two Tracks: A Closer Look

The two tracks are designed to provide students with a more focused education in two distinct areas of nutrition and dietetics. The first track is in the area of Sports Nutrition, which is a rapidly growing field that focuses on the application of nutrition science to improve athletic performance and support the health and well-being of athletes.

Students in the sports nutrition track will have increased supervised experiential learning hours at sports nutrition sites. Students in both tracks will have access to a variety of resources and tools to support their learning, including online resources, workshops, and guest lectures.

The Sports Nutrition Track

The sports nutrition track is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, assess, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries and illnesses through nutrition intervention. This track is ideal for students who are passionate about sports and nutrition, and want to pursue a career in this field.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Prevention: Students will learn about the importance of nutrition in preventing injuries and illnesses, and how to develop personalized nutrition plans to support athletes’ needs. Assessment: Students will learn how to assess athletes’ nutritional status and identify potential issues, such as malnutrition or dehydration. Treatment: Students will learn about the role of nutrition in treating injuries and illnesses, and how to develop treatment plans that incorporate nutrition. * Rehabilitation: Students will learn about the importance of nutrition in the rehabilitation process, and how to develop rehabilitation plans that incorporate nutrition.
