A Cork based company has announced the opening of a new high powered laser clinic for the treatment of chronic pain conditions. The clinic, opened by Laser Medical in Ballincollig, is the first of its kind in Munster and will offer treatment for pain relief, sports injuries, arthritis, and women’s health. The high powered laser clinic will be doctor- and physiotherapist-led, providing specialised therapeutic treatments for a wide range of chronic pain conditions, which affect more than one million people in Ireland. The company said that the high powered laser machine, featured at the clinic, is 15 times more powerful than conventional low power lasers, reaching deep into the tissue.
The treatment, known as the “high power laser therapy”, is a non-invasive procedure that uses a laser to target specific areas of the body. It is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, arthritis, and sports injuries. High power laser therapy is a relatively new treatment, but it has already gained significant traction in the medical community.
A treatment session, Mr Hennessy said, typically takes 30 minutes and includes an initial consultation to discuss a client’s specific needs. “The treatment is covered by most health insurance companies, so depending on your policy, some or all of the treatment cost may be redeemable.”
