  • Xavi hits out at Madrid ahead of the Champions League semi final second leg

As Jose Mourinho prepares his troops for mission impossible, Barcelona midfielder has hit out at the Real Madrid manager calling his tactics negative ahead of the crucial Champions League clash at the Camp Nou.

Real Madrid are 2-0 down going into the second leg of the clash after being beaten in controversial circumstances at the Bernabeu, courtesy a Lionel Messi double.

Madird need to overturn the deficit if they are make their first ever Champions league final in almost 10 years but the task at hand looks beyond impossible as Barcelona’s form at home is formidable and their recent record against their bitter rivals also against Madrid.

The match tonight is the fourth meeting between the two sides in 18 days with Madrid having won the Copa Del Rey and Barcelona claiming the Champions League semifinal first leg while the league outing between the two ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The two team managers were ensued in a bitter war of words before the last week’s Champions league clash that led Barca manager to swear on live Spanish Television.

But Pep’s side turned up with an impressive performance at the Bernabeu albeit employing dirty and ant football tactics.

Even after the match the war of words continued as Jose Mourinho alleged that Barcelona had some influence in the UEFA and the body plots against any teams playing against Barcelona.

Mourinho also accused Barcelona of winning dirt in the competition and went on to say that he would be ashamed if he won any match like Barcelona win theirs.

Following the last week’s game against Barcelona both the teams complained to UEFA about each other’s behaviour and tactics in the game but the body rejected both the claims but there remains some bad blood between to arch rivals.

Spain’s midfield maestro, Xavi is the latest man to come out and take a dig at the Real Madrid, criticizing their manipulation of the playing surface ahead of the league game and last week’s European clash.

The Les Merengues deliberately left the grass on the playing field longer than usual and also didn’t water it properly in an attempt to stifle their opponent’s slick passing game, a ploy that has not gone down well with the Barcelona team and especially Xavi.

"I believe people like to see attractive football on a good playing surface, not long grass and hard pitches, It's deplorable that there are no regulations in place for the state of the pitches. In 2011, there are still no regulations and that's regrettable." Said Xavi in the pre match presser in Barcelona earlier today.

Whatever be the circumstances, tonight’s game at the Camp Nou is destined to be a fiesty one with none of the opponents willing to budge and accept a defeat.

Although Real face a daunting task of making it past Barcelona but Jose Mourinho has said that he will do anything in his powers to get the better of the Catalans but on the evidence of last week’s match there is not much within his powers.

Despite the negative tactics employed by both the manager’s Barcelona were still the better side and took full advantage of Pepe’s rad card and as soon as he received his marching orders in the game, Barcelona scored a goal and then doubled their advantage a few minutes later through a mesmeric Messi goal.

Tonight the teams will meet against in the last of the 4 El Classicos and with a place in the Champions League final at stake nothing can be taken forgranted.

Expect some fireworks again tonight.
