West Indies v India: Third Test day three- 50-65 overs of India innings match update

West Indies have a great chance of bowling Indian out even without the services Ravi Rampaul, who has been taken to hospital to see the doctor.

At the end of 65th over, Indians are trailing by 22 runs and half of their team is back in the pavilion. Indians have two fresh batsmen in the middle. Mahendra Singh dhoni, skipper Men in Blue, is at the centre and is accompanied by Suresh Raina.

Raina has made 9 runs from 29 deliveries while Dhoni, who turned 30 on July 7, is batting on 4. Abhinav Mukund, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are the batsmen who have been dismissed.

West Indian skipper, Darren Sammy is leading the pack with two wickets while Devendra Bishoo, Fidel Edwards and Shivnarine Chanderpaul have chipped in with a wicket each.

Men in Blue failed to capitalize on the partnership of Laxman and Mukund. They were in a commanding position with 116 runs on the board and seven wickets intact but slipped to 182 for the loss of five.

At the end of 50th over, number one Test team in the world were three wickets down with 155 runs on the board. Laxman and Kohli were quite settled and looked to impose pressure on the depleted West Indies bowling attack.

Sammy and Bishoo were bowling in tandem. Laxman was nearing his half-century, he required three more runs to get there. Laxman got there in style by swiveling the ball towards  backward of square for a four.

The duo continued to bat in his manner for next couple of overs before Sammy got the best of Kohli, though, it required a decent effort from wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh who caught it down the leg side. Kohli got out in 57th over and made a viable contribution of 30 runs.

Raina came in next to lay support to Laxman. Sammy made a bowling change and introduced Chanderpaul into the attack. This change in tactic paid off for Caribbean side as they were able to pick up the wicket of Laxman in 60th over.

Laxman got out stumped by Baugh. The batsman after leaving the ball lifted his foot for a second and that was enough for the wicket-keeper to dislodge the bails. The veteran batsman made 56 runs.

Dhoni came in at Laxman’s departure. Dhoni and Raina decided to defend, as this is the last recongnized batting pair, until they get their eye in and then maybe they will go for some shots.
