Transfer News: Gilles Sunu to Ligue 1

Premier League’s elite outfit, Arsenal’s striker, Gilles Sunu, is set to move to the Ligue 1 outfit, Lorient on a loan transfer. The striker would stay at the new club till the end of this season.

The striker has failed to enter the Gunners first squad and had been considering his options for his future. Sunu also mentioned earlier that many Ligue 1 clubs have been inquiring for his availability and he will be keen to make a move in the January window. The French striker also clarified his transfer to take place under a loan condition.

The youngster has been craving for more attention and has lacked minutes on the field. Since Sunu signed the contract with Arsenal back in 2007, he has been on and off the field in substitutions and is yet to make a concrete statement. The youngster is reckoned to be a very competitive and quick learning footballer with great potential for his future career.

Sunu has earned his place in the U17, U18, U19 and the U20 squad. The striker secured several caps for the international youth team and held the captaincy throughout the 2008/2009 season. The winger has also scored a goal in the victory over Spain in the U-19 European Championship Final.

The move to Lorient can be seen as a major breakthrough in order to gain more experience for Sunu.  The 6 month loan spell would bring more play-time for the striker and in a different environment and surroundings, the French Youth International would learn from the style of game played in the French first division.

Lorient would also be looking forward to benefit from the striker’s skill. Last season’s 7th placed Les Merlus; seem to be having a tough time this season lagging at middle of the ranking table. The addition of the youngster might turn out fruitful as Sunu is desperately looking forward to emerge as a goal scoring asset for the club.
