  • Tiger Woods returns for US Open

Tiger Woods is an America professional golfer and currently the World No. 1. Woods have been away from golf for seven turbulent months due to some problems in his personal life and also due to a neck injury which he suffered during the Players Championship in May. Wood will be taking part into this week’s US Open and is planning to return back to his normal form. The 34-year-old since returning to competition will be playing just his fifth tournament after being absent from the game for a long period of time. Woods return to US Open means that things are getting better for him and returning to the normal state as they used to be. For Woods getting back to the competition has certainly become good and much more normal. He seems happy in competing once again in the tournament and looks to take the title once again. Tiger Woods left golf at the end of last year after he was linked in extra martial affairs. His leave was necessary because he wanted to rebuild his marriage to his wife Elin Woods, the mother of his two young children, He later undergo therapy sessions and only returned in the Masters competition in April. At Master he tied for the fourth position and was not able to score good results as he used to.
Woods missed to compete in the Quail Hollow Championship which was schedule to take place in May as he suffered a neck injury while playing at The Players Championship and even withdrew from their in the fourth round. The American will try to win his 15th major title when he once again moves towards Pebble Beach Golf Links on Thursday. Wood kept his family life firmly off limit during the press conference and responded in a straight way when asked about his marital status. Woods felt happier in discussing his return to the Pebble Beach to the press conference and also the scene of his record 15-shot US Open victory in 2000. When Woods coach and Hank Haney announced that he would be leaving him, many thought that Woods will face problem as Haney was there with him inside the golf lawn and also outside. But Woods later on told that Haney leaving him would not be a problem as he can take care of the problems now.
The course where the tournament is going to be held has been lengthened by 194 yards and toughened up with new greens. 11 bunkers have been added and the fairways are reshaped and made rough. According to Woods practicing partner Arjun Atwal Woods is "very close" to his best form and will be in his top form in the tournament. Both of them are neighbours in Florida and they often play together. Atwal was impressed by Woods improvement in the game and is sure that he will show some good results on Thursday. Atwal commented that every day his game gets better and better and it’s just a matter of time before we gets back in his old form. Atwal is an Indian Professional golfer and has won seven Asian Tour titles and just three events on the European Tour. He feels that Wood will be able to win his 14 major titles as currently he is in his right state of mind.
In order to extend his spell as the World number 1 Woods need to show some good results at Pebbles Beach in California. Woods have previously spent five years as World number 1 from the year 1999-2004 before exchanging the title with Vijay Singh over the following six months. Woods again took over the No. 1 ranking on 12 June, 2005 and is currently holding it, but for the past few months Phil Mickelson is closing in. Left-handed Mickelson won the Masters title this year and at the moment is looking to surpass Woods by winning the US Open title. US Open will start Thursday June 17th at Pebbles Beach in California.
