The Heads of Italian Delegation, Andrea Cipressa and Paul Azzi give their comments about The European Fencing Championships:

The Heads of Delegation of Italian Fencing Federation, Andrea Cipressa and Paul Azzi gave their comments about their squad’s victory in the 2011 European Fencing Championships in Sheffield while they were leaving for their country from Sheffield.

Cipressa spoke on the 2011 European Championship victories, “We will remember Sheffield, not only by the number of medals, but for the overall success of Italy in this competition fencing. Cipressa and Azzi accepted that the “Hat trick” made by the Individual Foil squad of female was unforgettable and really an unbeatable record y the Blues.

Azzi also appreciated the performance of coaches and masters during the championships. Azzi said that Italy took the victories due to the mutual hard work of Coaches, athletes, clubs, trainers, emergency and medical staff and all other concerns. The both head also thanked all the departments for their cooperation during the championships.

The both heads also commented on 2011 Catania World Championships. The both Head spoke, "We will have the eyes of the Fencing world focused on us and we will be able not only to do well on the platforms but also to live up to organizational standards that are recognized.” They said at the end “we expect an intense time. The joys of Sheffield will be charged. "

The Blue squad won total sixteen medals including ten medals in normal Fencing and six medals in the Paralympic Fencings. George Avola and Elisa Di Francisca from Foil Individual in male and female took the gold medals while four gold medals were conquered by the Men’s and Women’s Sabre and Foil teams. Men’s Foil, Andrea Cassara and Women’s Foil Valentina Vezzali won the silver medals while Men’s Foil Andrea Baldini and Women’s Epee Nathalie Moelhausen won the bronze medals. Three silver and three bronze medals were secured by the Paralympic squad.
