The Everton shot-stopper Tim Howard wants Marouane Fellaini to prolong his stay at club

The Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is hopeful that Marouane Fellaini would extend his stay at Goodison Park at least for the next English Premier League season.

The 32-year-old US International player, Howard hailed the Fellaini’s impact for the club by saying “He is tremendous for us. He really helps us build and he calms things down the middle of the park. We have missed him dearly, along with other players. We hope we can tie him up for another few years, get him healthy over the summer and he'll be raring to go.”

The veteran Everton goalkeeper believes that the ongoing contract talks between Fellaini and the club is going in the right direction. He thinks that Everton should not lose the midfielder of Fellaini’s class at any cost.

Everton manager David Moyes has claimed that they have approached Fellaini regarding the new contract talks. The 23-year-old, Fellaini has been out of action for quite some time now due to a severe ankle injury and is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season. But, yet many European clubs have shown their interest to acquire the services of midfielder for the next season.

According to the media reports, the Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested to bring Fellaini at Santiago Bernabeu, as they are planning to table a €25million offer to Everton in coming summers, which if Everton accepts, would give them a profit of €08million for Fellaini.

Fellaini signed a five-year-contract deal with Everton in September 2008 after completing a transfer switch from Standard Liege. The club paid a record amount of £15million for him and he soon became a key figure in the team through his stellar performances.  Chelsea are also rumoured to be monitoring the situation of Fellaini and may catch up with Madrid in the coming summers bid.

Toffees have not invested immensely on the last three transfer window seasons, which have raised the speculation that they this time around, are keen to sell some of their key players including Fellaini as well. But, Howard has denied any such speculation and insisted the club to not to sell the experienced stars of the team. Everton have struggled to dismantle the opponents in recent times because many of the team players been suffering from injuries.

Howard believes Everton must rebuild the team around a mix of both young players and old big names, which would surely give them success in the next season. Everton has managed to secure a seventh spot in the premier league standings after taking a poor start to their league campaign.

Howard considers new faces are as important as the experienced ones as he said “We need a few fresh faces, I think everyone would agree with that. And it is vital we stay together.”
