Team Sky strengthening its squad as it has signed Knees, Flecha and Barry for the coming season

Sky team riders Christian Knees, Antonio Flecha and Michael Barry were happy to stay with current squad for 2012 season.  German National Road Race Champion Knees and Spanish cyclist Flecha will remain for 2013 season while Barry has extended his contract for 2012.

Flecha is one of the best experienced cyclists as he took runner-up spot in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2011 and ninth place in Paris-Roubaix. He started his professional career in 2003 and won first stage of Tour de France. In 2008, he took the overall first spot in Circuit Franco-Belge.  

He also won the ninth stage of Tour de France while in 2008 he grabbed overall Circuit Franco-Belge. Flecha secured 141st place in the UCI world raking with 10 points ahead of Allan Davis and Stephen Cummings.

Flecha told the media, "I am really happy to be riding for the team again next season. The improvements we have made over the last year have been testament to the amount of work we have put in, and I am excited about what 2012 will bring.”

The 35-years-old Barry displayed good skills which earned him place in Tour de France 2011. He also took first place in time trial 1 stage of Giro d’ltalia and third time trial stage of Tour de Romandie in 2009. The Canadian also gain a most aggressive title in Tour of Missouri. In 2008, he took the first place in team standing of Tour of Ireland.

After joining Sky team Barry said, "I've enjoyed being a part of the development and growth of the team in the last two years and am looking forward to another season with Sky. The team is well organised, the management is solid, the staff is committed and we have a great ambiance amongst the riders.”

The 30-years-old Knees started his professional career in 2004 and get overall sixth place in The Peace race. German rider grabbed 1st spot in Bayern-Rundfahrt in 2008.  He also took the national road race champion title in 2009 and grabbed first place in Road race championship in 2010.

Knees told the media that he had a great season with sky team and he was really excited for the Tour de France. He further added, that he show his best skills over the next two years.

Dave Brailsford, the Sky team principal told the media that they were happy for the three world class riders to continue their careers with team.

 Sky procycling team has already signed with other cyclists includes, Danny Pate, Mathew Hayman,Sergio Luis Henao Montoya, Geraint Thomas, Luke Rowe, Richie Porte, Chris Sutton, Mark Cavendish and Bernhard Eisel. It will be interesting to see who win Tour de France next year.
