Success for Swedish and Chinese double players at the Polish open

The finals of the doubles men and women events of the International Table Tennis Federation ITTF Pro Tour were played on the 20th of March 2011. The ITTF Polish Open kicked off on the 16th of March at Wladyslawowo, Poland.

The men's doubles event was won by the Swedish duo of Mattias Karlsoon and Robert Svensson. They defeated the Chinese Taipei’s pair Huang Sheng and Chiang Hung- Chieh in a ver close match of seven games (6-11, 8-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-8, 13-11, 11-7).

The entire four players experienced the thrill and excitement of reaching the finals of the ITTF event for the first time. But for the Swedish player this victory will be a life time memory to be cherished.

In the semi finals the Swedish duo won over Yuk Cheung and LI Ching pair from Hong Kong in five games match scoring (11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4). The Chinese Taipei pair knocked out the Chinese Cui Qinglei and Wu Jiaji in straight four games.

The Swedish players never had won any major title of the ITTF circuit, the only time they became prominent as a double event player was in 2010 when they reached the quarter finals of the Liebherr European Championship. This victory was their first title as a pair in an ITTF Pro Tour a remarkable performance from both of the players.

In the women's doubles event of the Polish Open it was success for the most successful player of this year Guo Yue and LI Xiaodan. For Guo Yue it was the sixth victory in the ITTF women's double event this year. She has won 34 ITTF Pro Tours doubles titles till now.

For Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia it was the fifth title together in this year, they have won at Qatar, Slovenia, United Arab Emirates and Germany. The other two doubles title the English Open she won with Guo Yan and the Polish open she won pairing with Li Xiaodan.

They defeated the Japanese Duo of Hiroko Fujii and Misako Wakamiya in a match extended to six games 6-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10). For the Japanese player reaching the finals was a big achievement as the recent earth quake and tsunami back at their country has shattered thousands of people in Japan. The duo proved that their spirits are high and they will not be giving up and will show their best performance in every field of life.

Guo Yue has proved herself as the best doubles women player on the international Table Tennis circuit. She has also won the doubles title at the Salwa Cup, Harmony China Cup and Liebherr Australian Open in 2010.

The best performance by the two pairs and indeed the best one by the Chinese Player Guo Yue.
