Seven World athletics champions to lineup at Zagreb for Boris Hanzekovic Memorial title – IAAF World Challenge Meeting

Zagreb, the largest city and capital of the Republic of Croatia, is going to witness the 61st edition of the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial contest on Tuesday, September 13. The meet, which is regarded as the IAAF World Challenge Meeting, will be marked by the presence of a star studded field, 7 out of which are reigning world champions.

Leading the event will be the Jamaican star lightning bolt, (Usain Bolt), who, although was disqualified for the 100m final contest, but who landed for a 200m title pretty easily. Moreover, not only that, while appearing in the 4x100m relay, the star laid the foundation for a surprising 37.04 seconds finish, which proved to be a new World record. For doing so, Bolt, who is always known for making new world records, remained successful in living up to the expectations of his spectators once again.

While in Zagreb, resuming with his 100m showdown, the star will be challenging the Daegu world championships’ bronze medal finisher Kim Collins who will represent Kitts and Nevis in the event.

In women’s sprints, it will be Carmelita Jeter, the 100m and 4x100m relay world champion from USA, who also landed for a silver medal in the 200m competition, heading the star studded field in the capital of Croatia.

Another stellar performer, the spectators in Zagreb will look forward to watch performing will be Kirani James, the 400m specialist from Grenada who bagged a gold medal over the distance at the recently concluded world championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea.

Just like the plane sprinting competitions, sprint hurdles will also be a favourite discipline for the athletics fans in Zagreb on this coming Tuesday. The women’s field, in the event, will be lead by the sensational Australian runner Sally Pearson whose stunning 12.28 seconds’ finish placed him top of the podium in Daegu. Contesting her for the title will be the Olympic champion Dawn Harper who landed for a bronze medal in South Korea.

Other prominent athletes who will lineup for a title in the event will be Jason Richards, Dayron Robles, David Oliver, Blanka Vlasic, Anna Chicherova, Koji Murofushi, and Primoz Kozmus.
