SSC Napoli officially sign Marco Donadel from ACF Fiorentina – Serie A Transfer Update

SSC Napoli have successfully acquired the ACF Fiorentina midfielder Marco Donadel on a free transfer deal. The 28-year-old Italian footballer has signed a four year contract at Stadio San Paolo. The news was officially announced by the Napoli website today.

Napoli were facing competition from the fellow Serie A outfit Genoa CFC while reports suggested that several other outfits are in competition as well for acquiring the signature of the midfielder.

The midfielder arrived in Naples yesterday and while talking to the club’s official website gave his remarks regarding his new appointment. Donadel claimed that he is satisfied to be at San Paolo for the upcoming season and is ambitious to make a successful run with the Partenopei. The midfielder, on the Napoli official website said:

"I am very happy that I will be wearing the Napoli jersey next year and that I have the chance to play in a beautiful and historical stadium like San Paolo. I can't wait to start this new adventure and get to know the other players.”

The Partenopei recently lost their experienced midfielder when Juventus FC signed Michele Pazienza and the Neapolitans were keen were keen to find a suitable replacement to the gap left in the midfield.

Donadel is reckoned to be a great addition to the Azzurri as the player is very versatile and experienced. Moreover, the midfielder would be making the middle of the field stronger for the Blues as they enter the UEFA Champions League in the coming season.

The midfielder is a product of AC Milan’s youth academy and he was given his first professional contract at San Siro in 2005. However, he was straight away sent onto a loan transfer deal to Lecce, from where Donadel made his way to Sampdoria on yet another loaned transfer move.

Next stop for the Italian U-21 star was Fiorentina; where initially he was acquired on loan, but after half season, was given a contract for two years. Later on in 2007, the midfielder was offered a contract extension that bound him with the outfit until the summers of 2011.
