Ronaldo-Banzema-Marcelo out against Spurs and Gonzalo Higuain in against Sporting Gijon

Marcelo Vieira and Karim Benzema picked the injuries in their international duties in Euro 2012 qualifiers for Brazil and France respectively last week. Santiago Bernabeu boss affirmed that Karim Benzema - Cristiano Ronaldo - Marcelo Vieira trio would miss the vital clashes against Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting Gijon. Cristiano Ronaldo would not play against Tottenham in the first leg Champions League quarter final clash next week. The alluring French striker, Karim Benzema, faces a thigh injury whereas the 22-year-old Brazilian, Marcelo, has sore ribs. The Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is having problem with recurring hamstring injury.

Ronaldo picked up the injury in a 7 - 0 victory over Malaga last month and the official Madrid website confirmed that Cristiano had suffered an injury to his left hamstring. Club’s website just affirmed that Cristiano’s inclusion in the final squad, against Tottenham in CL clash, is a doubt. The club further stated, that after a thorough medical checkup at the Sanitas hospital, it was found that Ronaldo has the first grade wound to the left hamstring.

It would be terrible blow to La Liga giant losing their 80 million euro striker as he has dragged his tally to 27 league goals after scoring at Malaga. Cristiano has now leveled Barca’s maestro in the Castrol rankings. Lionel Messi and Ronaldo shared the space with the top scorers of BBVA La Liga. Madrid’s striker, Gonzalo Higuain, is the second in place with seven goals and Argentinean Di Maria is third with six goals. Madrid now seems to be closing the gap to Primera Division chart leaders FC Barcelona, for which, the Frenchman Karim Benzema and the 23-year-old hitman, Di Maria contributed on the score sheet.

Jose Mourinho revealed that doctors had checked the trio and stated that Ronaldo, Marcelo and Benzema are not ready to play against Athletic de Bilbao on April 10th and also that Los Blancos would play without their three important players against Spurs in a Champions League clash on April 5. He said, “The game against Sporting Gijon is very important for us. Not as important as the upcoming Copa del Rey final, but more important than the the clash with Tottenham.” Mourinho also commented on the Argentinean maestro, Gonzalo Higuain’s recovery after a long layoff due to injury. Gonzalo is said to be included in the squad for the Saturday’s game against Sporting Gijon. He added, “Higuain's recovery is great news for us. He's back to full fitness again and will be very important for us in the final stages of the season. I want to congratulate him and the medical staff on his quick recovery.”

When questioned about his future at Bernabeu, manager stated that he is quite happy with his stay at Madrid. He asserted, “I still have a contract for four years, but that's not what's important here. What counts is that everybody's satisfied. I will stay put as long as everybody's happy. I'll stay here if the players, fans and club's direction want me to stay.”
