Ronald Koeman also in FC Twente Enschede sights for coaching job – Dutch Eredivisie news

Michel Preud’homme is likely to leave FC Twente Enschede for Saudi Premier League outfit, Al-Shabab Riyadh. Reports from Enschede confirm that Ronald Koeman has also joined the list of candidates for possible successor of the Belgian trainer at De Grolsch Veste. The Dutchman is currently seeking a new job after his dismissal from AZ Alkmaar’s hot managerial seat in December 2009.

The former Dutch International is in the serious interest of Twente management to lead the Tukkers in the upcoming season, as the Belgian tactician’s departure is becoming more and more evident with each passing day.

Koeman is vastly experienced and has been pursuing managerial career since 1997/98, when he joined Netherlands national side in assistant coach job. Since then, he has managed top Eredivisie outfits with the likes of PSV Eindhoven, AFC Ajax Amsterdam and AZ. Moreover, the 48-year-old tactician has also coached Valencia CF and SL Benfica.

Steve McClaren, Michael Skibbe, Gertjan Verbeek and Co Adriaanse were also linked earlier with a move to coach the Tukkers in the upcoming season. The former England manager and current AZ tactician denied coming to train at De Grolsch Veste. Skibbe and Adriaanse, however, are still linked with the Enschede based club.

Joop Munsterman, the Tukkers president, earlier revealed that he is still waiting for Preud’homme’s decision about his future. Furthermore, Munsterman revealed that he does not want to look for possible successor to the Belgian trainer before the final decision.

“We have given him time to think about it. For us it is now a matter of waiting”, Munsterman was quoted saying to media.

However, with such lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia National football team and Al-Shabab Riyadh, it seems unlikely that the 52-year-old tactician would be pursuing his career at De Grolsch Veste. The Belgian trainer has an ongoing contract with the Tukkers. Should he leave his current club before the start of the 2011/12 season, the Tukkers will receive financial compensation.

Nonetheless, it seems obvious that Preud’homme would be leaving for pastures new and Koeman now looking the favourite to replace the Belgian trainer at De Grolsch Veste.
