Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel ready to defend the title

Red Bull has issued a clear warning to the rivals that they are determined to defend both of their titles this season. The Austrian team won the Driver’s Championship with Sebastian Vettel and also won the constructor’s title with ease last season.

Sebastian Vettel, who won his maiden World Championship last season, said that he is keen to repeat last year’s performances.

Mark Webber the teammate of Vettel said that the team has set much higher targets this year, and they are determined to defend both titles.

There were four pre-season testing sessions held in last month or so, Red Bull and Ferrari were by far the two quickest teams and look set to resume battle where they left off last season. Still all teams have said that pre season testing is not the right barometer to judge a team or driver’s form. As all teams are running on different conditions, and with no restrictions on type of tyres or Fuel load it really is not a level playing field.

Sebastian Vettel handed Red Bull its first constructor’s title when he won the Brazilian Grand Prix last season. After just one more week he won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and earned himself his first World Championship. Vettel also broke the record of Lewis Hamilton of by becoming the youngest World Champion.

Sebastian Vettel ended the campaign four points in front of Fernando Alonso, and his teammate Mark Webber was 10 points adrift in 3rd.

"Our target is to continue the way we finished, we won the last race and had a strong performance there and we will try to carry that momentum into the new season as well,"  said Vettel

The German said that the most important thing on his mind is to keep winning races right from the start, and make sure that he does not have to play catch up in later half of the season.

Vettel went on to say that as a defending Champion the pressure is always there, but he will take it as just another season and would focus on winning every race as it comes. The youngest world champion said that for now he is totally focused on the first race in Melbourne, and will take things from there on.

While commenting on the Melbourne track, Vettel said that he has enjoyed coming to Australia in the past and feels that the track does suit his style. He added that the car has been doing well in testing sessions, and reliability also looks good.

Sebastian Vettel insisted that despite Red Bull having impressive times in pre-season testing’s, it will be the actual race when the capacity of the car will actually be tested.

"If that's enough - we won't get to know until Saturday or Sunday in the race. I don't know if we are in a position to say that we can win the race. We have a good feeling but still we need to see how strong we really are. “said Vettel

The Red Bull prodigy also brushed aside rumours of him leaving the team; Vettel has signed a long term deal with the team and will be there for another 3 seasons. As the season starts it is obvious that Red Bull is being tipped as favourites to defend their title in both categories. But rest assured Ferrari will come hard at them, and taking into account the evidence of pre season test sessions it does look as if the Italian team has done its homework.
