Real Madrid looking to make a move for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini

In some rather strange and bizarre transfer news, it seems like Real Madrid have started to like the looks of Everton’s Belgian international, Marouane Fellaini.

The midfielder is currently set to miss out on the rest of the season due to an ankle surgery that he is set to undergo. However that has not distracted Madrid, who were previously interested in landing the player in 2008, when he made the switch to Everton from Standard Liege.

At the moment it is also believed that Chelsea are currently targeting the player and as a result Madrid are looking to finalize a move before anyone else moves in for the player.

Fellaini might not be one of the most talented or gifted players in the world, but what he has working in his favour is his massive height and presence. The player stands in at 6 feet 4.5 inches and knows how to use every centimetre of his body to his advantage and that is something that has helped him increase in popularity across the footballing community – that and his brilliant hair of course.

The twenty three year old is also a decent passer of the ball and a rather good header of it, both in a defensive and an offensive aspect.  So far in his career with Everton he has managed to score 15 goals in 87 appearances and that is a rather good record for a player, who spends most of his time on the pitch as a holding midfielder.

At the moment Madrid have the likes of Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Lassana Diarra and Fernando Gago to choose amongst as their holding midfield. However both Diarra and Gago have been heavily linked with potential moves away from Madrid at the end of the season and if the team is to pursue Fellaini, they might just go ahead and push the two out of the door. If the team does get rid of the players, they would also help create money that is needed to land the Everton man.

Fellaini joined Everton for around seventeen million Euros in 2008 and in turn went on to become the team’s record signing. Despite having pledged his loyalty to Everton time and time again over the past, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the player push for an exit if Madrid do actually come knocking. This is because the prospect of playing football at the highest level and in the Champions League is going to be a little too hard for anyone to give up.
