Premier league Predictions: Match Week 22 – Part 3

In part 3 of this edition of Premier League Predictions, we look at the games featuring the two Merseyside clubs as well as the two London clubs fighting for a place in the top four.

First up we are at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers v Liverpool

The win over Bolton might have given Roy Hodgson more time but that time could well be up if they fails to win against Blackburn. Roy Hodgson have applied negative tactics away from home this season and with him losing the support of the fans, it is imperative that he sends his team out with all guns blazing.

Blackburn are there for the taking and it is pretty clear that their fans and players are still not satisfied with the departure of Sam Allardyce and in particularly with his replacement.

It will be interesting to see what team Roy Hodgson puts out as they play Manchester United at the weekend and then they have two more games in the following week.

With games coming thick and fast, the Liverpool boss has hinted that he might rest Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres at some point during the upcoming matches.

Blackburn laid down relatively easily against Sunderland at the weekend and although Steve Kean will be looking for more fight and passion from his players, it is unlikely that the players will respond unless there are some new faces to freshen things up at Ewood Park.

Prediction: 1-2

Everton v Tottenham Hotspurs

Everton succumbed to their 6th defeat of the season at the Britannia Stadium. They never looked in control of the game and although the match was highly exciting with both teams creating chances, it was Stoke who scored the goals and came away with all three points.

Meanwhile Tottenham are flying high with all their attacking players looking in great touch. Gareth bale has now 11 goals for the season in all competitions and he was again on the score sheet at the weekend.

Rafael van der Vaart’s return from injury has lifted Tottenham who will look to extend their 9 match unbeaten run. Michael Dawson’s return has also stabilised the back 4 and with him in the defence Spurs have conceded only 4 goals in 7 matches, while Tottenham have leaked in 19 goals in 13 games in his absence.

Everton at home will prove to be a tough nut to crack but going forward they will miss Tim Cahill big time. David Moyes is in the market for a striker but he will have to shuffle his pack for this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Chelsea

Wolves even shocked themselves with their win over Liverpool at anfield but they were brought back to ground reality by Newcastle at Molineux with a 0-1 defeat.

Wolves simply don’t have enough goal scorers in their team. Their approach to games is spot on most of the time but they lack quality. They will need to press hard and make sure Chelsea players are hurried so they make mistakes.

However, it’s a tough ask for them but Chelsea are not playing with the same level of confidence that they showed earlier in the season.

Although they have started to create chances, they are still short in numbers at the back. Jeffrey Bruma was called upon to partner John Terry against Aston Villa which shows the lack of strength in depth Chelsea are suffering from.

Drogba was again on the score sheet last weekend against Villa and if he and Frank Lampard can get back in form then Chelsea can turn a corner here and look to move ahead. They need to go out and buy new players. A wide player and defender could be useful additions to their ageing squad.

Prediction: 0-2
