Premier League Gossip – 5th March, 2011 (Part 2)

Risse to join Newcastle

With Newcastle already fearing the loss of Enrique, the team has started to look for players who could potentially replace the player at the club, once he leaves.

The team seem to have narrowed down its search to a former Premier League and Liverpool player, John-Arne Riise. The full-back is currently employed by Roma, but with only a year left on his contract, the team might just be looking to find potential buyers for the Norwegian international. This also means that the defender will be available on the cheap, which just adds to the likability that he has developed at Newcastle.

Manchester United eye up Fernando Llorente

It seems like Manchester United get linked with a new striker almost every other week. Over the course of the season, despite the team doing rather well in the offensive department it seems like they have been on the verge of landing one striker or the other.

That case is quite the same here, as the team is now being linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao forward, Fernando Llorente. The Spanish international who also featured in the team’s World Cup campaign has seen his market price and demand escalate over the course of the last few weeks. However despite that fact it was strongly believed that he was on his way to joining Real Madrid at the end of the season, but with Emmanuel Adebayor having made that move it is believed that the Spanish giants are no longer interested in Llorente.

Nonetheless, United seem to still be the favourites to land the player despite Bilbao not willing to get rid of their prized asset. The player currently has a buy-out clause set in at thirty four million pounds, which means that if United are seriously considering to land the striker, then they would have to fork out serious amounts of money to do so.

Udinese prepare for big Sanchez bid

Italian side Udinese seem to possess a walking talking heap of cash in the form of Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international has been linked with moves away from the club for a number of seasons, however following a brilliant display in the FIFA World Cup 2010, which saw him complete the most dribbles ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, his stock went sky high.

The player was scheduled to make a move out of the Italian side at the start of the season, however he chose to stay at the club that made him what he is for at least one more term.

Nonetheless, it was believed that if any team was to seriously consider landing the player, then they would have to fork out around twenty five million pounds for the player. The fact that Sanchez went on to score four goals against Palermo this past weekend just did justice to the price that is being associated with him.

However the Udinese chairman, Franco Soldati has gone on to drop a massive hint in the sense that that the team has already received a massive bid for Sanchez.

Soldati is reported to have said:"Somebody has already proposed a figure close to 30-35 million euros, but I cannot say who.”

"In any case, the player is attracting interest in Italy and abroad, in England."

Manchester United were previously considered to be the firm favourites to land the player, but at this point in the season it is now anybody’s guess to predict where the player might end up at the end of the season.
