Manchester City in talks for Dani Alves, Chelsea target Franck Ribery, Alexis Sanchez to leave Udinese

Dani Alves

Dani Alves’ contract with La Liga giants Barcelona expires at the end of the 2012 season and so far has not been offered a contract extension, which has fueled rumors that the player pay be on his way out. Despite the Brazilian international’s agent insisting that he had not been contacted by any English Premier League side, there have been reports suggesting that the player is currently in talks with Manchester City over a possible move over the summer.

Johan Cruyff, Barcelona honorary president, admitted that the club might have to sell the player since a new contract had not been signed. He said in a statement, “It may be better to sell him than wait for his contract to end next year.” So far Manchester City have emerged as top contenders for the 27 year old, they are reportedly lining up a €50 million and wages of €8.5 million a year to lure him to the Eastlands.

Franck Ribery

Defending champions Chelsea are reportedly set to fight Spanish side Real Madrid for the signature of Bayern Munchen star Franck Ribery. The Blues spent an astronomical amount of £75 million to bring in Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Benfica defender David Luiz over the January transfer window and are set to continue their spending spree.

There have been reports that a clear-out at Stamford Bridge will take place and the likes of Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Jose Bosingwa and Yuri Zhirkov set to leave over the summer. With the aged and useless players out of the way, owner Roman Abramovich plans to bring in other players. The Russian owner could pay as much as €30 million to bring in the 27 year old on the left flank.

Alexis Sanchez

Fernando Felichevich, Alexis Sanchez’s agent, confirmed that the player would be leaving Serie A side Udinese at the end of the season. He said while speaking to reporters, “I read a lot of news stories on Alexis, but no club has made a concrete move to sign him. Having said that, there are many clubs interested in the lad and he will certainly leave Udinese in the summer.”

The 22 year old Chilean striker has attracted interest from Europe’s elite, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Inter Milan all eager to sign Sanchez. The Chile international was linked with a move away during the winter transfer window; however his current side did not allow for a move because of which the young forward will have to wait until the end of this season.
