Juventusand Bologna to go head-to-head at Stadio Olimpico

Alberto Malesani’s Bologna will travel away to Stadio Olimpico to take on Luigi Delneri’s Juventus to get themselves in the top half of the Serie A table and remove any threat of being relegated.

Juventus seem to be back on track in their campaign and will look to go 5th in the table.

The Bianconeri are 14 points behind the leaders AC Milan and it is unlikely that the Girlfriend of Italy could pose any threat to the current leaders. They would be searching for a place in Europe next season and are currently 4 points away from the UEFA Champions League spot. However, a win for the home side will get them level on points with the 5th placed Udinese and leave them 3 points short of the 4th placed Lazio.

Bologna, on the other hand, are currently at 12th place in the League table and 9 points clear of the drop zone. A win would get them in the top half of the table while a loss won’t do any favours to the Rossoblu.

The Italian Leandro Rinaudo, who is on loan from Napoli, is unlikely to feature in the match alongside his fellow defender Paolo De Ceglie. Simultaneously, Mali midfielder Mohamed Sissoko and striker Fabio Quagliarella are also uncertain to feature in the game due to various injury concerns.

However, their first choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will miss the game against Bologna through suspension.

Delneri is more likely to go with the striking options of Alessandro Del Piero and Luca Toni, while Marco Storai is very much certain to take Buffon’s place in the goal.

The visitors will be without the likes of their Austrian defender Gyorgi Garics and Swedish midfielder Albin Ekdal due to injuries. Also Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez will not be a part of Bologna’s squad due to suspension.

Rossoblu’s will be counting upon the striking abilities of Marco Di Vaio and Riccardo Meggiorini, while their first choice goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano will once again be guarding the visitors net.

Last time these 2 teams met was during the current 2010-11 season. Both the sides were not able to break the deadlock as the tie ended at 0-0.

Assessing the performance of both the teams in the last 5 head-to-head meetings, Juventus come out on top thrice while two matches ended in draw. Last time, Bologna travelled to Juventus and the tie ended all square at 1-1.

On the other hand, the Bianconeri come out on top twice against the likes of Inter Milan and Cagliari while suffered losses to Lecce, Palermo and Udinese in their last 5 matches.

The Rossoblu have more or less the same record in terms of winning, coming out on top twice against Palermo and Catania, while they also lost to the likes of AS Roma and Sampdoria on 2 occasions. But the game against Udinese ended in a draw.

The home team clearly has an edge over the visitors and Bologna’s past record at Stadio Olimpico shows that Juventus are the firm favourites despite the injuries and suspension which surround the Girlfriend of Italy.
