In a very recent match of the tournament the former world number one tennis ace from Belgium Kim Clijsters brushed away her veteran Belarusian rival Victoria Azarenka in a straight sets match to put her name in the list of the final four players of the event. Currently Clijsters is only top seed left in the event as the top seeds Caroline Wozniacki and Vera Zvonareva have endured early exits.

The brilliant performance of the current world number three Clijsters is a strong proof of her preparation for the upcoming Australian Open and she has shown that she is well ready to usurp the world number one spot from her arch rival Wozniacki. According to many sports critics the Belgian has shown a better games in the start of the season as compared to the top two players of the world. Moreover the way she has dominated the tennis court after coming back from her foot injury is a vivid proof of her sheer determination for the game.

Clijsters snatched the victory of the match against the former world number six Azarenka by 6-3 and 6-2. Considering the points of the match it seems like the match was pretty convincing for the Belgian ace but Kim is of the view that it was not at all an easy task for her to beat Victoria. The twenty one years old Victoria failed to win not even a single set of the match but she bluntly showed a bit of her class and talent.

After the match the twenty seven years old Kim Clijsters expressed her thoughts about the match. She said that even when she was leading the first set by three points still she felt like winning the match was not easy for her. Kim is very well aware of the capabilities of Azarenka and under-estimating her would have been a big mistake for the Belgian.

Clijsters told that she was lucky as she was able to break the serve of Azarenka at some crucial moments of the match and those break points helped her in settling the brawl in a victorious way. She added that it was a pretty close match and the she can see the ball better over the blue court.

In other important matches of the tournament, the Chinese number one Li Na saw off the twenty five years old and former world number two Russian tennis starlet Svetlana Kuznetsova in a three setter stamina jolting battle of tennis. It was not an easy game for the Chinese star as Kuznetsova gave her a very strong challenge. Li Na recovered from a set down to clinch the marvellous victory. Now the twenty eight years old will face the current world number seventy six Serbian tennis player Bojana Jovanovski in her semi final match of the tournament.

The Sydney International event is the final event for the players to check their skill and fitness levels before entering into the Australian Open Grand Slam, which will commence from the seventeenth of this month. The early exits of Wozniacki and Zvonareva have raised a lot of questions about their physical fitness and playing forms. However the world number three Clijsters is still playing fantastic and has shown her class staggeringly well.

Now the real battle between the top seeds of tennis will be viewed by hundreds of tennis fans from all around the world; when they will compete against each other in the Australian Open event.
