Kevin Gameiro breaks a Pedro Miguel Pauleta record at Paris Saint-Germain – Ligue 1 news

Paris Saint-Germain new striker Kevin Gameiro set a new record by scoring five goals in eight games, breaking the previous record held by legendary PSG striker, Pedro Miguel Pauleta.

Kevin Gameiro arrived to Parc des Princes in the early session of 2011 summer transfer window from FC Lorient. The 24-year-old scored his first goal in his second appearance for PSG against Stade Rennais in the second week of 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championelle.

In the last game against Montpellier HSC on 24th September, 2011, the France international set a new record of the highest number of goals in eight games for Les Parisiens. Gameiro broke the previous record of four goals in eight games that set by former Portugal international Pauleta.

Pauleta appeared in 212 games and scored 109 goals for the capital club, making him the all-time leading scorer at Parc des Princes. The Portuguese striker helped Les Parisiens win their first silverware in six years when he scored the only goal in 2004 French cup final against LB Chateauroux.

Kevin Gameiro has scored six goals in 11 competitive games for PSG.  The former Strasbourg striker has already marked his presence in the competitive environment at Parc des Princes. Gameiro is in splendid form lately and has targeted winning the Championnat as well as the UEFA Europa League for the capital club.

Paris Saint-Germain face Athletic Bilbao in the second group match of UEFA Europa League on 29th September, 2011 and later this week on 2nd October, the capital club play hosts to seven-time champions of France, Olympique Lyonnais.

PSG are unbeaten in the last ten games and are currently leading Group F of UEFA Europa League. Antoine Kombouare’s men are also level on points with Lyon and Toulouse at the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

Les Rouge-et-Bleu coach Antoine Kombouare will be counting on the great form of his side especially Kevin Gameiro who is the lone striker in the playing XI formation of Les Parisiens.
