Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo has all the qualities of a Brazilian playmaker, says Carlos Dunga

Former Fiorentina midfielder, Carlos Dunga, hailed Juventus playmaker, Andrea Pirlo, to have all the qualities of a Brazilian playmaker. According to the former Brazil head coach, Pirlo is the key for Juve this season to make a concrete bid for the Scudetto.

Dunga was recently talking to the media where he expressed his views regarding Pirlo. The former Brazil national team tactician said:

“Pirlo has turned this Juventus side into what they are now. You can see that his teammates respect him as their new leader. He is their Brazilian. Pirlo is the most Brazilian-like European player around right now. He can dictate tempo, he has technique, positional sense and geometry with his passing. He would be the first player I would pick if I could take charge of a dream team.”

Pirlo came to Turin during the summer transfer window from AC Milan after the current league champions denied a contract renewal to the playmaker. However, the Turin giants were quick to make their move and lured the Italian international on a free transfer.

The former Milan midfielder immediately reserved his place in the Juve starting XI as he impressed the head coach, Antonio Conte. It is believed by many that Pirlo has set the foundations of a strong midfield in Juve and without him the Lady Killers can be easily sabotaged.

Pirlo is known for his traits as a playmaker and is regarded as one of the best deep-lying playmakers in Italy. The 32-year-old is praised for his long shots and inventive play; moreover, being a set-piece specialist, Pirlo comes as a complete package for the Bianconeri.

Juventus are ambitious of making a comeback this season as strong contenders for the Serie A title. The Turin giants finished 7th in the league for two consecutive years and have missed out on European action. In order to undo their past failures, the Bianconeri revamped their squad during the summer transfer window and it looks like the changes in the Juve roster have brought desired results.

La Vecchia Signora currently sit 4th in the league table having played one game less than the rest of the top teams. Juve host Palermo on November 20 and are keen to secure the maximum 3 points and become league leaders again.
