Juventus can win the Scudetto this season, claims former defender Paolo Montero – Serie A Update

Former Juventus defender, Paolo Montero, tips the Turin giants to lift the Scudetto trophy this season. The veteran played eight seasons in all for the Bianconeri and won the Serie A four times with his former club.

Juventus have made a great start for the first time in a couple of years after they got relegated to 2nd division Serie B as a result of the Calciopoli scandal. This season, Juve are the league leaders at the moment and are in a position to make keep the top spot intact. Moreover, having played one game less than the rest of the top teams, the Lady Killers can also extend their lead by managing maximum points from that extra game.

Montero believes that by the arrival of his former teammate, Antonio Conte, as the new head coach, Juve are back on the right track and they have great chances of making it to the elites of the league. The former Uruguay international was recently talking to Tuttosport where he said:

"I was Conte’s companion for many years, so I know that Antonio is determined and a leader. He has given part of his character to this Juventus and made it livelier. That's why I think the goal of the Scudetto can be reached."

The former Juventino then talked about the possible departure of another former teammate, Alessandro Del Piero. Montero believes that the prolific hitman is a vital part of the team, but if he has to depart, he will do well in the future as well.

"It is strange to think about Juventus without Del Piero, but things in life change. I heard he wants to keep on playing, so I'm sure he will make the right choice, as always,” concluded the former Juve defender.

Juventus are currently leading the pack with just a solitary point ahead of the defending champions, AC Milan, with 25 points from their 11 games. The Lady Killers have managed to remain unbeaten in the league up until now and are keen to stay unbeaten as they travel to Naples to face Napoli on November 29.
