Inter Milan are still favourites for the Scudetto, says head coach Claudio Ranieri – Serie A Update

Inter Milan head coach, Claudio Ranieri, is very optimistic and claims that his team is still one of the favourites to win the Serie A title this season. Inter have had a shaky start to the ongoing 2011/12 season and they are currently lurking at the bottom of the league table on 15th position.

The Nerazzurri have played 11 games in the season so far and have only managed to win four. After losing the first three league games, Inter sacked head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, and appointed Claudio Ranieri as the new boss at San Siro. After Ranieri’s appointment, the men in black and blue jerseys are slowing getting back on the right track and are climbing the league table.

Inter won their last league game against Siena 0-1, but they are still 11 points behind the league leaders Juventus. However, Ranieri still believes his men have got a chance to make it through to the top of the league table.

The head coach was recently talking to the media where he revealed that Inter are still favourites for the title for him.

"If I had to bet a euro on the Scudetto, I would put it on Inter because they remain my favourites," he said.

The Nerazzurri President, Massimo Moratti, in response to his team’s coach said that he has a firm belief in the character of his men.

"I don't know, but if the jackpot were one million then you would come out pretty well betting a euro. I'm betting on the character of the players, which is something different, and on the pride of these lads, also on the fact that they still have not stopped thinking positively. The bet is on that,” said the Nerazzurri chairman.

Inter host the Scudetto contenders Udinese Calcio in their next league game at San Siro on December 3. The Italian giants have also advanced to the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League and the hopes are high for the fans at San Siro. Inter face CSKA Moscow at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in their upcoming UCL clash on December 7.
