Hoffenheim Vs Borussia Dortmund-German Bundesliga

Tonight, Hoffenheim will host runaway league leaders Borussia Dortmund at the Rhein-Neckar Arena and the away side would be looking to make it 13 games without a defeat as they carry on their inevitable march towards a title.

On the other hand, Hoffenheim will be looking to make life as tough as possible for the visitors as they look to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat last week at the hands of bottom side Borussia Moenchengladbach. Hoffenheim are currently at 9th place in the Bundesliga and they will be looking to end the season on the top half of the table which will be a pretty decent finish for a club that is still waiting to make its’ big break in top-flight German football.

Borussia Dortmund are still unbeaten this season and with 61 points from 25 games and with a 12-point lead over 2nd placed Bayer Leverkusen, Jurgen Klopp knows that his side is in a great position to lift the title. Two weeks back, Dortmund defeated reigning champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena 3-1, thus sending a strong note to everyone in Germany that they want to win the Bundesliga crown this time. And it seems that no team in Germany can loosen their tight grip on the holy grain and only a slump in form of mammoth proportions will see Dortmund lose their lead, something that’s not likely to happen in all honesty.

Head to Head

At home, Hoffenheim have been pretty indifferent recently. in the last 5 games at home, Hoffenheim have lost once, won one game and have draw 3 games. A goal difference of zero means that this side has a tendency to score and concede on a regular basis, a flaw that Dortmund would definitely be looking to exploit.

On the other hand, Dortmund have been very good away from home this year. In 2011, Dortmund have played 4 away games and won three of them and drawn just one. A goal difference of 9 shows that this team has a tendency to score goals at free will and Jurgen Klopp has done well to set the team in a formation that suits each and every single player.

Hoffenheim have conceded 11 goals in all games in the last 15 minutes of a game which shows that the defense lacks concentration in the closing moments of the game. If this trend is seen against Borussia Dortmund, the home side will be punished severely.

What the managers say?

"Against Dortmund as well we'll be looking to attack as the best form of defence, rather than waiting to react to their game", Marco Pezzaiuoli.

Borussia Dortmund

"They're on the rebound, and they're playing host to the league leaders. It's a great chance for them to make good."

Dortmund may start the game without the services of Mats Hummels, Lucas Barrios, Sebastian Kehl and Jakub but the game would still be a moderate test of the team’s strength-in-depth.

Dortmund have been in hot form all season and deserve to lift the Bundesliga title this time. The game against Hoffenheim would be tricky but the league leaders shouldn’t have any problems in maintaining their lead on top of the table.
