Gerard Pique wants Arsenal’s Fabregas at Barcelona

Influential Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, has expressed his desire to play with his Spanish team mate Cesc Fabregas at Nou Camp and believes that it is time for Arsenal skipper to return to his boyhood club.

Pique and Fabregas, both are products of Barcelona’s famous youth academy ‘La Masia’ and have also been playing in Spain national team for some time. Pique, who spent four years at English giants Manchester United before returning back to Barcelona two years ago, feels that Cesc should return to Nou Camp this summer.

Pique told the reporters, “I would like him to return - it's my wish for that to happen. I can't be clearer.”

Pique has also revealed Cesc Fabregas’ desire to return to Barcelona and the defender hopes that the club management would be able to lure Arsenal skipper in this transfer window.

"He is a Barcelona fan and has been his whole life and he would love to come. I hope the people in the offices can work well and can bring him in this time."
Fabregas has been heavily linked with a move back to his childhood club for the past three seasons and the 24-year-old has also publicly expressed his desire to play for Barcelona.

Cesc’s transfer to Barcelona looked imminent in the last 2010-11 summer transfer window when the Catalan giants made two official bids to sign the Gunners skipper and Cesc was on the verge of joining the Spanish Giants.

But Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rejected both offers and is still determined to keep his skipper for few more seasons.

Nonetheless, Barcelona, who won the Spanish League and UEFA Champions League, have once again shown their interest to land Fabregas as they look to strengthen their squad for the next season.

Pique revealed that it is Cesc Fabregas’ long dream to wear Barcelona jersey and the defender hopes that the Gunners skipper could join the Catalan club in near future.
“I still do that my hope is that one day he will play for Barcelona. I would love him to be here this year or if not then next year. He would give us more.  He could perform perfectly here,” added, Gerard Pique.

Cesc Fabregas, who assisted for Spain’s only goal in the FIFA World Cup final, is seen as a natural and perfect replacement of the world’s best midfielder Xavi and his addition in Barcelona’s squad will surely increase the depth and quality of Pep Guardiola’s team.
