Football Update: Mario Balotelli's recent statements

Mario Balotelli is the new induction to Manchester City in the English Premier League. Balotelli is notoriously known for his temperamental issues over a short career of five years, at senior level. The Italian international has an ability of scoring goals and is developing into a lethal striker in the box. He was awarded Europe's best Under-21 player, for this season. After earning the award he said,

“I am delighted to receive the award, but who else would have won if not me? Two years ago I finished sixth and then fourth in 2009. Now it's my turn, no?”

Jack Wilshere from Arsenal was rated the second best to Balotelli. Twenty-year-old Balotelli claimed he doesn’t even know the name of the runner up, however Jack Wilshere accepted and congratulated Balotelli.  Jack Wilshere mentioned through twitter,

“I would like to congratulate Mario Balotelli on winning it, even if he doesn't know who I am! He is a top player!"

"What's his name? Wil ... ? No, I don't know him, but the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him," Balotelli commented.

Soon after the award, Manchester City lost 2-1 to Everton, in a crunch match. Balotelli was part of the playing eleven and couldn’t perform to his standards. In the yesteryears this honour was awarded to Arsenal’s captain Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United. Balotelli cleared to everyone that he is better in his pedigree, than the previous winners. He commented,

"There's only one that is a little stronger than me: Messi. All the others are behind me."

Certainly at the safe end it won’t be wrong to say that Ballotelli is large on his ego. He is not short on self-confidence, while making statements, however he has not backed his statements with his performances. He remains a nightmare on the field, with his skills and temperament but failed to deliver, as his reputation suggests. He grossed his reputation while playing at Inter Milan. He played for four seasons with the current European champions and scored 20 goals in 59 matches. He joined Manchester City for £24 million this season and since then, he has just scored two goals in the seven games he has played.
