FC Koln midfielder Adil Chihi extends contract with the club-Bundesliga news

FC Koln midfielder Adil Chihi has signed a contract extension with the club and wants to continue performing for the club in the coming years. The player had a contract that expired at the end of the season and after rumours that he would be leaving, Koln have secured a deal for the midfielder.

Chihi had an injury plagued season last term and made only 11 appearances for the club all season. The player, who often plays as a striker, signed a new deal with the club, the details of which were undisclosed.

The club’s Sporting Director Volker Finke was pleased that the player had extended his stay at the club and rated him as a very important part of the side. He stated that the midfielder has been influential in the past few seasons for the Goats and his commitment shows that the club want to keep its key players.

“We are pleased that we were able to bind to the FC term Adil Chihi. His contract extension after a turbulent season for him is a clear commitment to the 1st FC Cologne. Adil Chihi looks at FC, the best prospects for his sporting future. As an offensive-rounder, he played an important role in our plans,” he was quoted.

Adil Chihi was elated with the new deal. The Moroccan international insisted that he owes a lot to the fans of the club and that he will fight for his place in the side. The player revealed that he is delighted to stay at the club where he started his career and wants to help the club reach new heights of success.

“I am very happy to continue to play for the 1st FC Cologne where my career has begun, and I owe a lot to the club, the FC is currently the stage for a successful future, and I'm.. glad to be part of it,” he added.

1.FC Koln finished the Bundesliga season in 10th place on the standings table with 44 points with 13 wins and 16 losses in 34 games played.
