Diarra to Monaco, Fernando Llorente not leave Athletic Bilbao, Busquets pleased with Barca deal

Monaco on the verge of signing Mohamadou Diarra

It has been reported that Read Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is on his way to Moaco, the French side announced the player would be arriving at the club soon after completing the medical. The 29 year old arrived at the Bernabeu from Lyon in 2006, but in his four years with the Spanish giants he failed to establish himself in the first team. He had some hope with the arrival of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho; however, he has not even had a single start under the Special One. He is desperate for a transfer, willing to go to Monaco who are battling relegation in the Ligue 1, instead of remaining with Spanish giants.

Fernando Llorente to remain at Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao president Fernando Garcia Macua said in a statement that striker Fernando Llorente would not be leaving the club as long as he remained in charge. The 25 year old forward has been linked with a move to some of Europe’s top clubs, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. However, Macua insisted there was no amount of money offered for the forward that could change his mind. He said in a statement, “He is not going to leave here while I am the president of the club. We know the will of the player is to continue for a long time with Athletic Bilbao. We are fed up with the rumor mill on this issue.”

According to the new agreement an automatic extension for a further year will be added, depending on the games played in the 2014-15 season and his buyout clause being increased from 80 to 150 million euros.

Busquets said while speaking to reporters, “I'm happy. It's the best way to start the year - great news for everyone. I am very young, I'm 22 years old, and hopefully will have a career full of successes.”

An official statement released by the club after the deal was signed, read, “Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets this morning signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2015.
