Davide Viganò will ride for Lampre-ISD in the coming seasons

One of the latest transfers in the cycling world is of Davide Vigano. Vigano was riding with team Leopard Trek in the current season and had to find a different team as Leopard Trek announced its merger for 2012. The cyclist made his way in the Italian team, Lampre-ISD, for the coming season.

The current season is towards the end and most of the cyclists have already signed their future teams.

The announcement of Team Leopard-Trek’s merger with RadioShack was more of a shock for many riders.

The two teams joining hands resulted in many riders losing their spots. Likewise, even staff members had to really struggle for their future.

Most of the cyclists, however, have already found their place in the new team RadioShack-Nissan and Davide was amongst the few left.

Vigano started his professional career with Team Quick-Step in 2005 and represented the team till 2008. He rode for Team Fuji-Servetto and Team Sky for 2009 and 2010, respectively, before he finally moved to Leopard Trek in 2011.

The cyclist was relieved on finding a new home for the coming season. He mentioned, “I’m happy with my choice and at the same time, I feel flattered to be able to join a great club like the one at Lampre”.

Davide has mostly worked as a domestique throughout his career and has assisted his teammates gain victory at many occasions. It is because of the same reason that the 27-year-old does not have many wins to his name.

The only one success that he managed to secure was at the Vuelta a Espana 2011. He won the team’s time trial at the event.

His best performance with Team Leopard was at Tour of Romandie. The cyclist finished fifth at stage 5 of the Tour as Ben Swift of Team Sky dominated the event.

Vigano was helping Daniele Bennati in his previous team. The cyclist will be seen back in action in the same role.

He will be assisting his new team leader, Alessandro Petacchi, in the coming season. Other riders to join Davide in the Lampre squad will be: Grega Bole and Danilo Hondo.
