Chelsea infuriate yet another club in their bid to secure a young talent

Chelsea have successfully signed teenage sensation, Nathan Ake, from the Dutch club Feyenoord. The Blues have finalized a deal with the club which is reportedly worth around 230,000 pounds. The fifteen-year-old will sign the contract to become a part of Chelsea on his 16th Birthday, sometime in February, next year. The defender has shown a lot of promise and has recently been attracting attention from the top clubs in Europe. Feyenoord’s sporting director, Leo Beenhakker was less than thrilled by the deal. Beenhakker was furious that one of the club’s top talents had been lured away to Stamford Bridge. Beenhakker fumed,

“It's driving me crazy that hot prospects are walking away from us like this. The Premier League clubs spoil the market with their behaviour. Other clubs in Europe don't behave like this but the English sides just don't care. It's obviously bad news for Feyenoord. We can't do anything about it if a foreign club comes up to sign one of our youngsters.”

This is not the first time Chelsea’s questionable transfer policies have landed them into trouble. Chelsea have previously been involved in the controversial transfer of striker Gael Kakuta from Lens, which ultimately led to a fine and a ban on the player, as well as a transfer ban on Chelsea. However, that decision was later overturned. Now Chelsea’s behaviour in the capture of Nathan Ake has drawn criticism from the Feyenoord sporting director. Chelsea officials have been quick to reply to Beenhakker’s comments, saying that their pursuit of Nathan Ake has been completely by the book. A spokesperson for the club stated,

“We've kept Feyenoord abreast with our interest and as such have reached an agreement with them.”

Nathan Ake is yet another addition to the host of young players signed by the London club through their European scouting network. The youngster joins the likes of Jeffrey Bruma, Fabio Borini, Jacopo Sala and Gael Kakuta; all of whom are being groomed as the future of Chelsea. However, while Nathan Ake may be the future, Carlo Ancelloti will be looking to strengthen his first team immediately. There will almost certainly be a few high profile signings by the Chelsea boss in the upcoming January transfer window.
