Charlie Adam believe Liverpool are progressing well – EPL News

Influential Liverpool midfielder, Charlie Adam has hailed Reds’ performance in the recent 1-1 draw against Manchester City, stating that Kenny Dalglish’s team is progressing well.

The Merseyside club welcomed the current leaders and the only unbeaten team in the Premier League, Manchester City. The Reds also entered the match on the back of an impressive 9-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Vincent Kompany put Manchester City in the lead before Charlie Adam levelled the score to end the match as a 1-1 draw.

Adam has stated that Liverpool were mentally prepared of the extraordinary quality of Manchester City’s squad. The Scottish midfielder has claimed they were expecting a tough competition from Roberto Mancini’s men.

However, the former Blackpool skipper was impressed with the Reds’ performance and has asserted that the hosts fully matched the quality of the Citizens.

The 25-year-old midfielder told the reporters, "Manchester City are a top side and have top players and we knew it would be difficult. They’re a top side, in the Champions League and they’ve got good players. But we stuck to our guns and we played well. It was great entertainment.”

Adam has bemoaned over Liverpool’s failure to claim a win over Manchester City, especially after the visitors were down to 10 men following Mario Balotelli’s sending off in the 83rd minute. Moreover, the Reds created a number of chances in the dying minutes, however, the hosts were denied by the influential and in-form City goalkeeper, Joe Hart.

The Scottish midfielder added, "When they go down to ten men and you create a lot of chances, you maybe go on to win the game.”

Despite the fourth consecutive home draw, Adam believes that Liverpool are progressing well and has assured that the Reds will step up their game as the season wears on.

“But at the end of the day, we’re progressing the way we want to progress and if we can pick up more wins, then that would be nice, but let’s move on to next week. We are progressing the way we want to progress,” Charlie Adam concluded.

Liverpool, who are currently placed sixth in the league standings, will play their next Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
