Chairman Daniel Levy claims Modric understands Tottenham Hotspur position – EPL News

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has insisted that the want-away midfielder Luka Modric is fully aware of the Spurs’ current position and will not seek a move away from White Hart Lane this summer.

Daniel Levy held talks with Tottenham’s midfield magician, Modric, on Thursday to discuss his future after the Croatian midfielder has been a subject of an intense transfer speculation which are constantly linking him away from the north London club.

A number of Barclays Premier League clubs have registered their interest in signing the 25-year-old former Dinamo Zagreb.

Manchester United have been reportedly after the creative midfielder who is tipped to replace Paul Scholes at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson is also a huge fan of Modric and has also been throwing hints to sign him.

Manchester City are looking to add the versatile midfielder to their already star-studded squad and have been keenly monitoring Modric’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea are the one who are most interested in Modric. The Blues want to pair Modric with Lampard in the midfield at Stamford Bridge and have already made an offer of a £22m for the Croatian midfielder.

Tottenham Hotspur, however, rejected Chelsea’s offer and have insisted that they don’t intend to sell their any player in this transfer window.

Daniel Levy met Luka Modric after the midfielder returned for the first time from vacations at Croatia. Levy has clearly told the 25-year-old midfielder that he will not be allowed to leave the north London club at any condition. Levy has claimed that the meeting with Modric was a successful one and believes that Modric now understands club’s position.

Daniel Levy said, “He was on holiday we’ve now had a conversation and he understands our position.

He said, "He understood. I’m sure once he’s back with his team-mates everything will be fine. It makes no difference [if Chelsea came in with a higher bid], this is not about money, we’re not selling our best players."

Modric has scored 3 goals in 31 Premier League matches this season.
