Cesc Fabregas won't rush recovery

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has said that he will not rush his recovery from a recent hamstring injury.

Fabregas was forced from the field during Arsenal's Champions League defeat to Braga and he says he will not return to action until he is certain he is one hundred per cent fit and ready to play.

"I don't want to put a date on my return yet, I will take my time. The team did really well without me against Aston Villa, so I will wait until it is completely ready. It is so frustrating, though. It seems when something like that happens, it all goes wrong at the same time, so you have to be strong," Fabregas said in the Arsenal v Wigan Atheltic Carling Cup programme.

Although Fabregas has never used injuries as an excuse for bad performances, he admits that he has not been on top form yet this season. There have been many reports and rumours that have put this down to persistent hamstring problems and a build up of muscle fluids.

"I know I haven't been at my best this season. I started the season really strongly, the first few games, but after that I had an injury and got into a pattern of missing a few games, and then starting again," he added.

The Spaniard says Arsenal has more than enough quality to cope without him for a short amount of time. However, there is very little doubt that Fabregas is the best player in Arsenal when in possession of the ball.

"So it is better my team-mates play, because they are fitter than me. I will just try to get back whenever I can. My team-mates are helping me a lot and I am trying my best," he said.

Betting advice

Fabregas is crucial to any hopes Arsenal has of lifting any trophy over the remainder of the season. Always bet on him to score in games because he gets into great advanced positions and manages to find space in and around any opposition defence he plays against.
