Can NSW journey on Super over triumph? – Match Preview

New South Wales (NSW) have rejuvenated their poor start to the event on the basis of their super over triumph against Trinidad & Tobago. The defending Champions would have been eliminated from the tournament if they had lost that match but Moises Henriques constructed a breathtaking triumph that kept their chances of qualification breathing.

If they could manage to win the couple of next matches then their progress is assured. However, they have to play against a side which is on the edge of qualifying for the semi-finals. If they lose the match then they will become dependent on the outcomes of other matches.

During the match, heavens opened after the first innings but Mumbai Indians would have supported themselves to victory after scoring 176 runs. Mumbai arrived into the field with the absence of some big names due to injuries. However, they have been unbeaten yet.

The rookie Sarul Kanwar availed the opportunity he got in the absence of Davy Jacobs and assaulted Cape Cobras in their previous match.

On a wicket favourable for batting, Mumbai Indians managed to score at a good pace but kept on losing wickets as well. Kieron Pollard cruised to his blistering fifty and facilitated Indians to post a challenging score.

Watch out for …

Andrew Symonds: He did not have a flourishing tournament yet because he didn’t get the time to show his talent. In couple of games he came into the middle when his team was in danger but could not stay at the wicket for a long time either. However, he played a quick cameo of 14 runs off eight deliveries. Symonds did not play any competitive cricket since Indians Premier League but still a danger man who can be a match-winner on his day.

David Warner: The Australian left-handed opening batsman also did not have a glorious outing in the middle since the tournament. In their opening match he scored just 20 runs and smashed 38 runs against T&T. But he is kind of player who can take the game away from opposition at any time.

Team news

Mumbai Indians, most probably will play the same team. Ben Rohrer has a remarkable record for New South Wales, but has been discharged cheaply couple of time in as many games at No.6.

"We've got to come up with a better batting effort through that middle phase. If no-one bats through [the innings] it's very difficult."
