After his great contribution to the world of cricket, the opposition also said that Tendulkar's request for constructing a gym at his Bandra bungalow should be approved. Despite the fact, that the legendary batsman later withdrew his request.

The Maharashtra Assembly applauded the Indian cricket team with a standing ovation for their outstanding performances in the mega event. All the people present in the assembly shouted for the Indian team and honoured them with salutations.

Various Ministers from the Maharashtra Assembly are of the view that after Tendulkar is awarded with the Bharat Ratna, the entire Indian cricket team should also be honoured with the Padma Puraskar. The Indian team lived up to expectations by lifting the coveted trophy, after being tagged as the favourites going in to the tournament.

The Maharashtra Public Works Department Minister said, “Having won the WC, Sachin must get the Bharat Ratna and all other members of Team India must be awarded Padma Puraskar.”
