Benfica make €10million bid for Danilo and have offer for Vasco da Gama’s Dede rejected - Report

Benfica put forward €10million to Santos for Danilo

The Eagles have been relentless in their pursuit of Danilo and according to reports they are willing to part with €10million to secure his services.

The Portuguese outfit has been continually linked with the Brazilian U-20 International despite the interest of Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus. Although the Serie A clubs have the upper hand when it comes to financial power, the Eagles have been keen on the 19-year-old especially after the departure of Fabio Coentrao to Real Madrid and were credited with a €6million bid earlier this summer.

Santos deemed the previous offer not worthy of Danilo’s talents and rejected it. But the Reds have come knocking again after increasing €4million and are determined to land the fullback’s signature, who is also eager on a transfer to Europe.

However it will be difficult to deprive the Santástico of their star asset despite Benfica’s bid, as the club director of football, Pedro Conceicao said that they had not received any proposal but did not acknowledge what Santo’s response would be if the offer met their evaluation of the player.

Danilo started his career with the youth ranks of America-MG and progressed up the pecking order at the club. He was later included in the first team plan and made his debut for the Rabbits in 2009. The Selecao international was integral to his side’s promotion to Brazil’s 2nd tier league and made 9 appearances in their successful campaign in the Brazilian Series C Championship.

The highly rated prospect came into prominence last year after his playing rights were acquired by some investors and he was contracted to Santos.

Although he is yet to receive a senior cap, Danilo has been omnipresent in the U-20 Brazil Team, where his talents have been utilized as an attacking fullback.

Dede says he rejected an offer from Benfica in order to stay in Brazil

The Centre-back, Dede, has been the subject of Benfica’s search for defender as they look to strengthen the backline but said that he is happy in Brazil and does not wish to leave.

"There was a proposal. A representative of Benfica was talking to me in Rio with my attorneys and Vasco but it's been a month [since that meeting occurred].

"I confess it was a multi-million proposal but I preferred to stay because I am very happy at Vasco,'' he disclosed.

"People who know me, know that although the proposal will make me a multi-millionaire, I am still not swayed. I want to get into the Brazil squad and, if possible, playing for Vasco at the same time will be even better," he professed further.

The Vasco da Gama stalwart has been at the club since his move from Villa Rio in 2009 but despite impressive displays has yet to appear for Brazil at any level.
