Barcelona stars to return on Wednesday for training

The Spanish Champions and the current table toppers of the Spanish La Liga, Barcelona are going to be back from the winter break on Wednesday. So far they have enjoyed great form while playing under their coach Josep Guardiola who is expected to sign a contract extension on the New Year.

The Barcelona coach is going to be signing a new contract extension soon as the Spanish Giants do not really want to let go of him as his team are going to be back on Wednesday to train after the winter break. The Spanish Champions have been dominant in the first half of the Spanish La Liga and they have no lost a single match away from home while playing in the league.

Currently, Barcelona are sitting at the top of the table as they have shown almost all the Spanish La Liga sides that they are unmatchable. The Catalan Giants are proving to be one of the world’s greatest teams and currently Josep Guardiola is known to be in charge of a “dream team” just like the former Barcelona coach Joan Cryuff built to help the Spanish side win trophies.

For now Barcelona have been in outstanding form – they have defeated their arch nemesis Real Madrid, even though they are currently under one of the best coaches in the world Jose Mourinho. Moreover, Barcelona have also proved themselves against all the teams that they have visited. So far the La Blaugrana have no lost a single game while being away from the Nou Camp; however they have drawn and lost a game at home – drawn against Michael Laudrop’s Mallorca and lost against the newly promoted Spanish La Liga side Hercules.

Apart from the Spanish La Liga, Barcelona managed to stay at the top of the table in the UEFA Champions League as well. However, they did not draw an easy opponent as Arsenal are now going to be facing Barcelona again and it is going to be Barcelona vs. Arsenal episode two of the last season. Moreover, Barcelona have also drawn the home tie against Athletic Club as they managed to defend well at the Nou Camp and left Barca with a goalless draw.

Now the Spanish Champions are going to be back in training after the Christmas break. They are going to be back in their training ground Ciutat Esportiva and there are going to be six training sessions before they leave for their next opponents, Levante.

As decided on 21st December 2010, the whole team is going to be back on 28th of December 2010 to train for the next game. However, the Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi is going to be missing out on a few training sessions as Josep Guardiola has allowed him to stay away till January 1 or 2.

The team is going to start getting ready on Wednesday and on Thursday the whole squad is going to be a part of two training sessions – one in the morning and one in the evening. Later when they look to get back in shape, they are going to be rested till Friday when they are going to be training all over again.

On Friday, the team is going to be a part of the last training session of the year 2010 and they are going to train twice. Later, on Saturday they are going to be gathering again in their training camp to join their coach for their first 2011 training session. Later, the team is going to get ready to face their next league opponents Levante.

The team is also going to be joined by a new face, Ibrahim Afellay who is currently in Morocco waiting to join Josep Guardiola’s side. The first training session is going to be an “introductory” session for Ibrahim Afellay who is going to start off with a warm up exercise and later he is going to join the rest of the squad to get ready for, probably his first game in the Spanish La Liga.
