Ashley Jackson’s hat-trick leads East Grinstead to a scintillating victory over Loughborough Students in the EHL

A triple strike from Ashley Jackson led the East Grinstead team to a sparkling victory over the Loughborough Students as they thrashed their opponents by 7-1 in their second match in the Men’s Premier Division of the England Hockey League (EHL), played on Saturday, September 24.

The match was quite an entertaining game where the East Grinstead athletes dominated their contenders for the entire time throughout the match where they scored a goal after every ten minutes on average. Although the Loughborough Students started the match with early action but except the four minutes it was all an East Grinstead show who played some wonderful hockey during the entire seventy minutes and especially in the second part of the game where they scored five of seven goals while two goals were scored in the first half whereas their opponents could manage only a single strike in the entire and that was the fourth minute goal by the Loughborough Students.

The first half started with an early action by the Loughborough Students as they opened their account just four minutes into the match when Samuel Ward scored a beautiful field goal in the 4th minute but the East Grinstead team replied well just after ten minutes when Dave De Prez made a wonderful open play effort to equalise the score in the 15th minute. In the remaining time during the first part of the game both the teams made daring efforts to find each other’s net but it was the East Grinstead team that did it just before the interval when Barry Middleton scored the second goal for East Grinstead in the 33rd minute

The second half entirely belonged to East Grinstead as they found their opponents’ net for five times starting with Ashley Jackson who scored his first goal by converting a penalty corner into the goal in the 43rd minute thus doubling the lead just in the start of the second half. Ashley Jackson just took another four minutes to find the net once again when he scored his second and the fourth for his team in the 47th minute with the help of a drag flick. Four minutes after his second, Ashley Jackson completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute, once again scoring on penalty corner. The Loughborough Students could not make any impression in the second half and remained the mere spectators. However, the East Grinstead athletes did not stop their efforts and Andy Piper scored the sixth goal in the 65th minute before Barry Middleton completed the action in the 68th minute by scoring his second goal of the match. The match concluded at 7-1 to East Grinstead.
