All-Star Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Atlanta (fixed headline)

Los Angeles snapped their three-game losing streak thrashing the Atlanta Hawks from start to the finish for a comfortable 104-80 victory at Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA. The MVP of the All-Star game Kobe Bryant scored a 20 points as the home team started the second half of the season on a high note. Kobe didn’t let the All-Star aggression go away and put his team back on track. With this victory Lakers also kept their home record clean.

Lakers led the first quarter quite meticulously 15-28. Derek Fisher of the Lakers put the first points on board 0-2 and straight away the Lakers stretched the lead to 0-8. Kobe and Fisher contributed 6 points each in the Lakers first quarter’s total. From the Hawks centre Al Horford made 6 points.

Lakers kept going with the same speed in the second section also. Lamar Odom added 7 points in the second section for the Lakers. Joe Johnson made 6 points for the Hawks. Lakers were rolling when the second section’s play ended 33-54.

After first half’s play Horford was the leading player from the Hawks as he made 9 points, had 3 rebounds and 1 steal. From Lakers Pau Gasol contributed the most 8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Lakers made 54 percent field goals while Hawks have made only 32 percent field goals in the first half.

Hawks plan to hold up the Lakers in the third segment in which they thrived to some extent but their forwards let them down. Kobe made 12 points, the Lakers led another quarter with an extended lead 54-80.

Lakers looked relaxed in the fourth part, this led the Hawks made more points than the Lakers in the fourth part 26-24. But the previous quarters lead let the Lakers register a comfortable victory over the Hawks 80-104. Devin Ebanks was the leading scorer in the fourth part for the Lakers made 8 points.

Tuesday night’s success put Lakers one victory behind the 40 wins mark as they stand with 39 wins and 19 defeats so far. Kobe remained in the game as well as winner high with 20 points, he also had 3 rebounds, and provided 5 assist and steal 2. His teammate Shannon Brown was the second leading scorer from the Lakers, he added 15 points.

"We know we're an elite team," Gasol said. "We know we can be dominating. It just hasn't happened consistently enough. We're glad it happened tonight, but we've got to do it again and again."

"We came out and played hard, did all the right things," Bryant said. "I just felt like our execution defensively was really sharp tonight."

Johnson was the loser high with 14 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists. Centre Horford added 13 points.

"I thought our guys took the path of least resistance the whole game," Hawks coach Larry Drew said. "On offense, we settled, and defensively, we didn't play with physicality. I just thought we settled, which is starting to be a pattern with us."

Next up Hawwks will meet the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, while Lakers will face the Portland Trail Blazers same day.
